Craftsmanship
What happens before a saree reaches us
A single Kanchipuram korvai saree can take three weavers between eighteen and forty days. The warp is dyed and stretched in the open, the border is woven separately and interlocked by hand, and the pallu is joined with the pitni technique that leaves a visible ridge — the honest sign of a real Kanchipuram.
